A Level Examination results
It was great to see Year 13 students this morning, collecting results and discovering their next steps.
Larkmead’s Sixth Form is truly comprehensive, and as such our entry criteria for students joining our Sixth Form courses are more inclusive than most secondary schools. This means that a simple comparison of grades achieved is not like-for-like with other schools. However, Larkmead's Level 3 Value Added Score at A Level has been consistently impressive, nurturing the progress and achievement of students across the board.
Larkmead students have today progressed to their desired destination of university, apprenticeship or employment. This includes students who achieved all A* grades, and students who are the first person in their family to go to university.
As The Larkmead Promise says:
Larkmead’s vibrant Sixth Form is an inspiring pathway to success. You will make the most of our specialist study facilities and enjoy time with friends in our renovated Sixth Form social centre. You will benefit from the pastoral care, high expectations, wider enrichment and dedicated teaching that achieves outstanding value-added results. You will take a lead in school and in collaboration with our wider partnerships. You will move on from Larkmead to university, apprenticeship or employment with great qualifications, great friends and great memories, ready to meet your next challenge and enjoy the opportunities ahead of you.
We are proud of each of our students for their hard work and achievement, and wish them the very best in the next steps in their exciting future. Thank you to everyone involved in creating these successes, and in supporting our students and each other through their Year 13.

Progress
Progress at A Level is measured in relation to each student’s average points score at GCSE, and compared to students nationally with similar KS4 attainment. This analysis is referred to as “Level 3 Value Added” and a value of +0.5 would represent students doing, on average, half a grade better in each of their subjects than students nationally.
This analysis is not available this year as the cohort’s GCSE results were centre assessed grades.
Retention
The proportion of students who get to the end of the main programme of study that they enrolled on at Larkmead School is 97%.
Destinations
The percentage of students who continue in education or training, or move on to employment at the end of 16 to 19 study at Larkmead School is 100%.
