Return to School January 2022
Dear students, parents and carers,
I am writing to confirm arrangements for the start of term and to provide an update based on latest government guidance.
The staggered start to enable us to complete in-school testing is set out below. Remote learning is in place for all year groups in line with these timings:

- The deadline for providing consent for in-school testing was Wednesday 15 December.
- It is not possible to add students to the system after this point. Consent cannot be granted on the day in person or by telephone.
- Students may also test from home prior to their return.
- Please continue to report all test results through the government website: Report a COVID-19 rapid lateral flow test result - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
- Positive test results should be reported to the school via: covid.hometestresults@larkmead.vale-academy.org
The approach we have taken is in line with government guidance. We do appreciate everyone’s flexibility and support for these measures.
The government has changed the rules for testing for those who have tested positive recently:
- Even if someone has tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 90 days, they are strongly encouraged to take part in LFD testing on-site through ATS or at home once they have completed their isolation period for their prior infection.
- If consent has been given within the deadline then students can come in to test. If not then students should test at home and report the results.
The school website features videos from March showing the test centre and a Year 7 student sharing their experience. Larkmead School - Return to School in September (larkmead-school.com)
- Students in years 7-13 should come into school for their test at the times indicated below.
- Students should go to the testing zone in the gym.
- There may be some delays as we process the volume of students involved.
- After the test students must leave the site immediately.
- Results will be shared over the course of the day, prioritising any positive cases.

We will be distributing Lateral Flow test kits to students when they return to school.
Government guidance is that face coverings should be worn in classrooms and communal areas. This is in line with the additional steps we took towards the end of last term.
I’d like to thank Larkmead students for their great cooperation and spirit last term, and thank them in advance for being their usual adaptable and positive selves in the weeks ahead. It has been great to see their community spirit in action, looking out for each other and by extension their families. Thank you to parents for your support. We will continue to keep you informed of any developments.
Yours sincerely
